Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Man with Van Putney is committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an ethical, responsible, and transparent manner. This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all staff, contractors, and suppliers engaged by Man with Van Putney.
Our Approach and Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and all forms of exploitation. We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with, including employees, agency workers, subcontractors, and suppliers of goods and services.
No form of modern slavery is acceptable within our business or supply chain. Any suspected breach of this policy will be treated seriously and may lead to the termination of working relationships or contracts, as well as reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man with Van Putney provides transportation, moving, and related services to individuals and organisations. Our supply chain primarily consists of vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and materials suppliers, and occasional use of subcontracted drivers or removal teams.
Given the nature of our operations, we recognise there may be potential risks of labour exploitation, particularly in lower-paid and subcontracted work. We therefore place particular focus on these areas when assessing and managing modern slavery risks.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect our suppliers and subcontractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. As part of our due diligence process, we seek assurance that our partners operate in line with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws.
We reserve the right to request information from suppliers on their own modern slavery policies, recruitment practices, and working conditions. New suppliers may be required to confirm that they do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour, and that they maintain appropriate processes to prevent human trafficking within their own operations.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To help ensure ongoing compliance, we conduct proportionate supplier reviews and audits. These assessments focus on higher-risk suppliers, such as those providing labour-intensive services or operating in sectors or locations with known vulnerabilities to labour exploitation.
Audits may involve reviewing documentation, requesting evidence of right-to-work checks, investigating recruitment methods, and checking that wages, working hours, and conditions meet legal and ethical standards. Where concerns are identified, we work with suppliers to improve performance. If necessary, we may suspend or terminate relationships with suppliers that fail to address serious or repeated issues.
Recruitment, Training, and Awareness
Man with Van Putney aims to ensure that all workers are recruited lawfully and voluntarily. We do not charge recruitment fees, and we verify the identity and right-to-work status of all employees and contractors where required by law.
We raise awareness of modern slavery risks through staff guidance and ongoing communication. Relevant team members, such as those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management, may receive additional information to help them identify warning signs of exploitation and respond appropriately.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
We encourage anyone working for or with Man with Van Putney to report any concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices in our operations or supply chain. Concerns can be raised to a manager or senior member of the business, or through any established internal reporting channel.
All reports will be taken seriously, investigated where appropriate, and handled as confidentially as possible. We will not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Man with Van Putney is committed to continually improving its approach to preventing modern slavery. We review our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence processes on a regular basis so that they remain effective and proportionate to our business activities.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually and updated as necessary to reflect our evolving practices, changes in legislation, and feedback from stakeholders. The review will consider the results of supplier audits, reported concerns, and any incidents or emerging risks identified during the year.
This statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Putney, who are responsible for ensuring its implementation and ongoing effectiveness across the business.
